Archaeological Excavation in the Palace area

Since 2016 the Association of Friends of Berlanga Castle alongside with the town council have promoted several archaeological excavation on the palace site, with the aim of discovering new finds and continuing with the survey and research of one of the best Renaissance palace in Spain.

The first excavation, carried out in summer 2016, was intended to be a practical course on archaeology in which 18 students from all over Spain took part. Four areas were excavated allowing, thus, the archaeologists to locate the palace courtyard and the entryway.

A second excavation took place in March 2017 which allowed to locate the wine cellar as well as to continue with the research on the palace.
